Tech Note for SFTP and the new upgraded server software.
05/02/2014 at 10:03 PM - Stored in FTP
The next time you login to your SFTP account to make
a website change, upload or download you many see a
notice generated by your FTP program.

You might see something like.

Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that a host key has just been changed.

The notification.

When using SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol / Secure File Transfer Protocol)
Client FTP programs like Transmit, YummyFTP, CyberDuck, Fetch and many
others will report that there may be a problem with connecting to the server
when the "Key" for identification of the server has changed and the program
warns you.

The problem.

OS X does not tend to allow you to overwrite the stored key and allow you to
connect to the server after the warning. Windows does not seem to have this

The solution.

1) Go to the "Go" menu in the finder.

2) Choose "Go to Folder ..."

3) Enter the following pathway ~/.ssh/ into the field and click "Go"

4) You should now see the "known_hosts" file.

5) Open it with TextEdit or TextWrangler/BBedit

TextWrangler (Free) is best since you can set the lines so they don't wrap.
Go here to get it.

Note: if you use TextEdit make sure to go to the preferences and change
the program to use/save in "Plain Text" not "RTF"

6) Find the domain (or ip address) that you are working on, or if you don't use anything
specific with ssh then just select all and delete the host keys. They will be recreated
automatically with whatever FTP program you use. If you delete a single key then just
delete the single whole line that it is on. No CR (carriage returns) between lines.

7) Save the file.

8) Login to your SFTP

Please call us if you have any issues getting your FTP program working.

Upgraded Email Server Software
03/15/2014 at 2:00 AM - Stored in Email
This upgrade should squash Spam in a big way. By the time you
read this, and if you were getting too much spam you should notice
a major drop. The new server software has many new ways of detecting
Spam and defending your inbox in a big way.

In the next couple of months we will be transitioning to new
email server hardware. We will be making an announcement
prior to the time of the upgrade.
